Brakah Campsite is located 3km from the Haina’s main gate amongst the characteristic Kalahari savannah.

There are 5 separate sites (max 5 pax per site), ablution blocks with hot & cold showers, flush toilets & separate washing up facilities. No electricity is provided & water is not recommended for drinking due to high salt content. Drinking water is available at the lodge, bring own container. Firewood, cold drinks & ice can all be purchased from the main lodge & daily activities can be booked. However use of the lodge facilities is permitted to fully inclusive Lodge guests only.

The camp site (S 20° 59.310’ E 023° 41.905’) is situated +/- 3 km from the main gate (S 21° 00.006’ E 023° 41.085’) of Haina Kalahari Lodge.

There are 5 camp sites under thorn trees and an ablution block with a double set of “flush” toilets and showers with hot and cold running water. No electricity is provided. A sink is provided for washing of dishes. Water is salty and cannot be used for drinking.

The main lodge (S 20° 56.966’ E 023° 40.684’) is +/- 3km from the camp site and drinks, ice and wood can be purchased here.

FACTS ON THE RESERVE:

The private game reserve consists of 11,000 HA. The real African safari experienced in semi arid, pristine Bush land and some open savannah.

Rainy season is normally from November to March, average rainfall 450mm.

Ave temps throughout the year. Summer vary between daytime 18-37 and Winter 5 -26%.

Animals found on the reserve:

All animals on the reserve are in their natural habitat. Haina is big cat country with a pride of lion often roaming the area. There are several territorial leopard and cheetahs that also move through the reserve. There are the usual antelope species especially herds of Gemsbok, Blue Wildebeest and Eland. Kudu are also plentiful. Porcupine and honey badgers and the elusive brown are occasionally spotted on night drives.

Birds found on the reserve:

Both migrating and residential species with over 250 species positively identified.

LOCATION:

Central Botswana : on the northern border of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve.

Approx traveling time from Haina to:

Matsweri Gate (closest entrance to the Central Kalahari Reserve) by road 47 km traveling time approx. 1hour.

Maun 170km. Approx traveling time by road 3hrs. By air, 30 minutes (62 nautical miles)

Landing Strip information:

Haina Kalahari Lodge airstrip is licensed for public use for aircraft up to 5700 kg. Sand & Clay surface, 1300m long, 04/22 directions. The co-ordinates are S20, 57 E 023, 40 it is unfenced and animals could be on the runway.

Going by road:

4x4’s are essential in all Botswana ’s reserves, be entirely self-sufficient as there are no shops or supplies once you leave Rakops/Maun/Ghanzi. That means carrying enough water for drinking and sufficient fuel to manage all your own game drives with a wide safety margin. Fuel consumption in the sand will be higher than usual.

The most obvious and practical route from South is via Rakops. The last refueling stop on the main tar road between Maun & Letlhakane is Rakops although Mopipi just south of Rakops is a more trustworthy fuel stop. The turnoff to the Haina Kalahari lodge is 18km north of the Rakops tower. Turn left at the Haina Safari Lodge signboard and follow the cut line for +/- 75km to Haina Safari Lodge.

ROUTE VIA MAUN

From Maun follow the road to Makalamabedi. Turn off +/- 52km. Turn right at Makalamabedi. Drive along the veterinary fence line to Kuke gate. Turn right along the Central Kalahari Game Reserve fence line for approx 22km. Turn right at Haina Safari Lodge sign.

FROM GHANZI

At Kuke corner turn right into old main gravel road. Drive for +/- 4km Turn right towards the cut line fence and follow the 2 spoor sand road adjacent to Central Kalahari Game Reserve for 120km to Haina Kalahari Lodge signboard.

FROM NAMIBIA

From the Buitebos Border Post proceed to Ghanzi.

FACTS ON THE ACTIVITIES:

Guided Walks:
Bush Trail - Join the resident guide on a bush trail. Learn more about animal spoor, the vegetation of the Kalahari. Varied lengths and duration depending on the guests physical fitness but anything between 3-5 kilometers

Cost: USD20 per person minimum 2

Game Drives:
Game Drives, in open vehicles, are led by an experienced guide and bushman tracker and are offered at sunrise and sunset. Evening sundowners are served with the sun setting over the Kalahari.

Duration and Departure times: The guest’s preferences are taken into consideration with normal duration of 2 hours. Departure times normally 8am and 4pm .

Cost: USD25 per person minimum 2

Night Game Drives:
Departure times at 9pm (after dinner) or after sunset

Cost: USD25 per person minimum 2

Bushmen Cultural experience:
Haina Safari Lodge is located in close proximity to the ancient mecca of the Bushmen that inhabited the area about 6 000 years ago. Haina is home to a group of Bushmen, who are free to continue their nomadic life or join the experienced staff at Haina. They will share with you how they go about their daily lives, how they search for roots and plants to live on, how to make a fire and do a rain dance.

Cost: USD20 per person minimum 2

Quad Bikes:
Quad biking is a novel way to explore the verdant countryside adjacent to Haina Safari Lodge and to view the game and bird life.

Cost: USD30 per person per hour accompanied by guide (aged 16 and over)

Payment
Any amount due to Brakah Campsite will be payable as follows:
Full payment when confirmed to secure booking.

Cancellation policy please check below
Please note that all cancellations are only effective once confirmed in writing by our Reservation office.

10% of rate will be charged for the whole period of the reservation if a written cancellation notice is received within 7 to 30 days before the expected date of arrival.

50% of rate will be charged for the whole period of the reservation if a written cancellation notice is received within 1 - 6 days before the expected date of arrival.

No shows: 100% charge for booking. Late arrivals/early departures. Bookings cancelled one day before or on the arrival date will be considered as No-shows.
